Alex Ashwin won the toss and invited Billingborough to bat on a wicket that looked like it would offer some assistance to the bowlers and as has been a regular theme this season, the opening pair of the skipper and Chris Logan made early inroads in to hosts batting lineup.

Platt claimed a good catch in the gully off Ashwin to remove B. Light before Logan had Zealand caught by Hamish Bell, on his BPCC debut, behind the stumps.

Hugo Bell was then introduced in to the attack and after a sub-standard opening over soon got in to his work. Atkinson became his first victim followed by Goodwin the very next ball. The following over saw Billingborough captain Pullum misjudge a leave to see the ball clip off stump. Dylan Garfoot then tried to leave a 'short' ball but could only succeed in gloving the ball to brother Hamish before his 5 wicket haul was completed by a good running catch by Josh Weller. However, he wasn't finished there. After Mohammed Azhar claimed the wicket of J. Light caught by son Ahsan, bell finished the innings by removing Luke light and Donnel Sylvester to finish with figures of 7-23 from 7.2 overs.

In response, James Laud looked to be positive from the off, ably supported by Josh Gallimore who took a slightly more defensive approach, but between them saw BPCC home in just 14 overs without losing a wicket. Laud finishing 60 not out and Gallimore 14 not out. Another 20 points which sees Burghley extend their lead at the top of the league to 15 points before a tough trip to Skegness this weekend.
