Burghley 2nd XI hosted Billingborough's 2nd XI looking to extend their unbeaten run and remain top of the league. Billingborough won the toss and elected to bat.

Burghley's opening bowlers started well in hot conditions, Biggs and Banthorpe bowled full and straight and gave little away, the opening pair put on 23 before wickets started to fall, 3 down for only 3 runs including a caught and bowled by Biggs and an excellent catch at gully from Nick Fisher from Banthorpe's bowling had Billingborough struggling. But a brave and fearless innings from Billy Sadler took their innings to something respectable until the introduction of returning legend Matt Williams, who along with Sherwin and Sam Crossley, strangled the remaining batsmen and restricted them to 108 all out from 27.2 overs. Crossley dismissed the dangerous Sadler 3 short of his half century and then a spell of 4.2 over, 4 wickets for 1 run from Williams finished the innings off!

Briault and Hurn set off cautiously compared to previous innings but passed 50 without loss, Briault eventually caught for 31, Hurn going for 18, Davies and Armstrong took on the cause, getting 16 and 17 respectively and when both fell, Williams and Fisher didn't have the chance to get out of single figures after Fisher finished the match with a huge 6!

BPCC 2nd XI are top of the league with a 41 point lead over 2nd place, a few more wins should secure promotion. Next up Skegness at home next Saturday.
